About The Apollo Theatre

The Apollo theatre is on Shaftesbury Avenue. It was originally well known for shorter runs of plays and musicals, although a few productions have bucked the trend and played for much longer. The theatre seats just under 900 people but looks and feels much larger. It's split over four levels and built in a traditional style, with ornate designs and side boxes on three levels. Although huge in scale, each level feels contained and intimate.

Missed opportunity
The writing was not as sharp as the original TV programme…and storyline weak/out of date. Felt that it was a missed opportunity to make a fitting final chapter to a popular programme. Acting good, theatre lovely.

Good acting....especially Clive Francis as Sir Humphrey. Great set and costumes....an afternoon well spent!
