The Time Traveller's Wife
When Clare and Henry first met, Clare was six and Henry was thirty six. When they married, Clare was twenty two years old and Henry was thirty. This is a time-altering love, but it doesn't alter with time. Henry is a librarian who suffers from a rare condition where his genetics keep re-setting, leaving him constantly pulled between his own past and future. Artist Clare spends her entire life waiting for Henry to turn up. David Hunter plays Henry, Joanna Woodward plays his wife Clare, and rest of the cast will be announced nearer the time. But we can say this: it's a magical plot, and the Chester premier was a monster hit, which is why it's transferring to the Apollo Theatre in the West End.
The novel, The Time Traveller's Wife, is an international bestseller, also made into a film and a popular TV series. There's something about the story that inspires us, a musical exploring the ins and outs of a couple's timeless love, Grazia magazine describes it perfectly as 'Dark, unpredictable, incredibly clever and a modern romance'. With music by Dave Stewart and Joss Stone, with additional music by Nick Finlow and additional lyrics by Kait Kerrigan, and Director is Bill Buckhurst at the helm, it's going to be a big London hit... as time will tell...

Back to the Future The effects were excellent and the show mostly followed the film storyline with a couple of tweaks to bring it to the stage. Not sure it lends itself to a musical though.

A good addition to the book/TV series/film to enjoy this captivating story. We had seen the TV series, so the plot was probably easier to follow although I imagine not too difficult for a first timer. There were some particularly good vocals particularly from the leading lady. A nice thought-provoking story which some clever use of the stage area which constantly revolved and changed for each scene. Ideal for couples or those with a fascination for the challenges of time-travel.

The Time Traveller’s Wife The first act of the show was more suited to a play as very fast moving story, music average.
The second act was fantastic both visually and musically.

Bit different Something different from what I was expecting. Not the usual musical. Got a twist to it.

Spectacular For a new show, you would think it had been around as long as some of the greats. Was a bit worried it wouldn't transcend from book/ film / TV and then stage, was I wrong!!
The show was mesmerizing and acted beautifully, it was the act the played Gomez that actually stood out for me a very physical actor that just took the stage by storm. Well done all!!! 5******** of you've not seen it just get it booked

Lovely play The play was lovely - great story and good acting. Nice night out.
The theatre could be better - very narrow seats and extremely limited legroom. There was no advance warning that the play was about to start, nor about how long the break was.

Loved this show! The cast of the musical is led by David Hunter (Henry), Joanna Woodward (Clare), Tim Mahendran (Gomez), Hiba Elchikhe (Charisse) and Ross Dawes (Henry's Dad) and they were a strong team. The chemistry between the two principals was obvious moving the audience through many emotions and Tom and Hiba provided delightful comedy at just the right times. I can thoroughly recommend this treatment of the book.

The Timetraveller’s Wife What a fantastic prodigal acting, singing, the slick set changeover and the brilliant script which had the right tempo and equal measure of laughter and thought provoking moments.
Thoroughly excellent

A musical treat Loved this show - superb leading characters, good music, wonderful singing, great acting, clever scenery arrangements and terrific special effects. My only criticism is it was a bit loud and I had to remove my hearing aids! However, I appreciated the diction being very clear so I didn’t miss anything.

Disappointing I enjoyed the first half, the singing was very good and stage lighting effects were impressive however during the second half i got very bored and felt everything was so repetitive. Sadly couldn’t wait for it to end! The songs weren’t memorable and I didn’t get any goosebumps that I normally get watching musicals. I feel the story just doesn’t lend itself to a musical genre sadly.

Poignant and thought provoking Enjoyed the show. Was apprehensive having read and loved the book, but although couldn’t be as in depth as the book, was still done very well
